Design Statement
For my design, I chose to use an image of the Singapore city skyline as the focal point in the header because I wanted to showcase the beauty and modernity
of the country. The skyline, with its iconic buildings and vibrant lights, represents Singapore's blend of tradition and innovation, which is central to the
country's identity. To complement this image, I selected a light blue background color for the overall layout. This color not only matches the cool tones in
the header image but also conveys a sense of calm and sophistication, aligning with the clean, modern feel I associate with Singapore.
When it came to typeface selection, I chose fonts that exude elegance and simplicity, matching the sophisticated and polished vibe that Singapore is known for.
The colors I used for text, primarily dark and neutral shades, help maintain readability and contrast well with the light blue background. I also placed all the
information in separate sections to ensure that the content is easy to read and visually organized. This structure allows the viewer to navigate the page
seamlessly and engage with the information without feeling overwhelmed. I placed the navigation bar and buttons at the top of the page to ensure they are easily
accessible, offering a smooth user experience when moving between sections. The buttons are styled in green to coordinate with the cool tone palette and to add a
pop of color while maintaining a harmonious look throughout the design.
The images I selected are carefully curated to reflect both the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of Singapore, which is heavily influenced by Chinese
culture—a cultural connection I share. By highlighting these aspects through the design elements, I aim to create a visual experience that resonates with both the
viewer’s appreciation for Singapore and my personal cultural connection.
